An interesting point

While arguements fly left and right over the execution of Saddam, there was one point I found interesting. CNN found it acceptable (and frequently flaunts) to show the death of US Soldiers by insurgent snipers...however, they will not display the execution of Saddam. Is this not the same thing? While I have not decided my view on "public executions," it is an interesting point, nonetheless.

I admit, I was thinking the exact same thing. What's different from shooting insurgents and shooting Saddam?

Both are classified as "military" and both are "the enemy" as well as "an immediate threat".

Yet for Saddam we need a trial, and it's not allowed to be televised at all, while we can watch the foot soldiers being slaughtered day in and day out with nothing more than a short disclaimer.
